YOUTH SPORTS SKILLS, DRILLS & COMPETITION

ELEVATE YOUR GAME

The YMCA Youth Sports Skills, Drills and Competition program aims to elevate athletes to the next level. Whether they are picking up a ball for the first time or looking to enhance their skills. Our program combines technical skill development with the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Our YMCA coaches lead these session-based classes.

DEVELOPMENTAL MILESTONES

In every sport we offer, we focus on three areas of growth:

  • Physically: Improving agility, balance, strength and sport-specific motor skills.
  • Mental: Developing focus, discipline and the ability to "shake off" mistakes.
  • Social: Learning the value of teamwork, communication and sportsmanship

THREE PILLARS OF SPORTS SKILLS, DRILLS & COMPETITION

FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS

Each class starts with focusing on the sports basics, footwork, hand-eye coordination, and proper form.

STRATEGIC DRILLS

Players will learn about the sport and the game to improve their knowledge, allowing them to think during competitions and games.

CONTROLLED COMPETITION

The best way to learn is to play.

Each session includes challenges or games where players can apply their skills
